music......

aaaa...... theres music everywhere....like some ppl cannot live without newspaper/books...i cannot imagine a day without music.....i'am open to any kind of music as long as it appeals to me.....

Though i do take a special liking to carnatic music...(which i sing- not a great singer though)..

the raaga's which are on my favourite list are

malayamarutham--->also called the morning raaga becoz generally sung in the morning...and aaah listening to ths raaga is like sipping hot coffee.

kanada---->an awesome raaga....so melodious and soothing...and the alaipayuthe song....totally mindblowing

bhairavi------>a unique raaga...equally melodious

and shanmukhapriya--->i have no specific reason but maybe the fact that a song sharavanabhava(tuned to ths raaga) was one of may favourite songs.

and coming to the lyrics

i have never really tried to understand what the composer intends to tell.....but recently while downloading one of the songs from a website which also provided the meaning of the song i could not help but appreciate the poetic feel the composer has tried to give to the song while still holding the essence of the song intact.....be it bhakthi,sringara......

Carnatic music has cme a long way.It is interesting to see so many artistes ,still actively involved in research .Everytime i attend a concert of bombay jayashree(i would call her god) or for that matter even my music class group singing , i feel bad that i dont dont spare time to practice .........

music is everywhere.........
